Who are we?

We are a small, not for profit company, based in Stroud, UK. We undertake fundraising to enable us to make and gift specially designed T shirts and baby vests for children in treatment for cancer.

We started Wiggly T with the goal of helping other families, like ours, who have a child with cancer.

Our daughter, Indi, was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia (ALL) when she was two. Almost immediately, she had an operation to implant a Port (Portacath / chemo port) under her skin near her collar bone.

Her Port linked internally via a tube into a large vein near her heart It was accessed with a 3/4 inch needle to allow for chemo delivery, blood transfusions and draws, IV antibiotics etc needed during treatment.

Cancer treatment for children can be a lengthy process, with Leukaemia treatment lasting for approximately three years. That amounts to a lot of medical interventions.

Indi’s treatment lasted for a little over two years. Regularly accessing Indi's port was an area of treatment that she (as well as Dan and I) really struggled with. She quickly learned that when we started to take off her top, it meant that she was going to be poked with a needle. This naturally meant accessing her Port became very traumatic for her, and us.

Why a Wiggly T?

Wearing a Wiggly T allowed her to keep her top on and kept her largely covered for access and treatment. She felt more protected while we were able to easily keep the fabric away from the sterilized area. Her top could also be done back up very quickly after being accessed without being in the way of treatments.

The treatment was always traumatic for her, but her Wiggly T allowed her to feel protected and comforted and she recovered each time much more quickly.

Nights in hospital were less disturbed as the wigglies (tubes coming out of her Port) were easy for nurses to access.

Now that Indi is, fortunately, safely out of the other side of treatment, our mission is to help as many other families as we can who find themselves in this situation too.
